Abstract Sounds

,

Abstract sounds are sounds in which the physical sources cannot be easily recognized and are known to help subjects focus on intrinsic sound properties (analytical/musical listening). Perceptual evaluations of abstract sounds are here associated with analysis-synthesis to identify signal structures responsible for evoked movements. Abstract sounds are also used to investigate abnormal perceptual experiences in schizophrenia and to examine word-sounds relations in conceptual priming.
