Timbre
Analysis-synthesis approaches are here used to identify and extract timbre descriptors that at best characterize evocations induced by sounds.
Perceptual evaluations are correlated with timbre descriptors to reveal perceptually relevant sound morphologies and constitute an intermediate step to high-level (intuitive) control of sound synthesis processes which has been proposed in the case of solid sounds and environmental sounds.
